Fixed Blade

In a thermal or nuclear power plant, a steam turbine is attached to a generator to produce electrical power. Main components of the steam turbine are stages (rows) of fixed and rotor blades, which driven by high-pressure steam convert heat energy into rotational energy.

After being heated in the power plant boiler to a very high temperature, the steam expands through the fixed blades toward the rotor blades. The purpose of the fixed blades (nozzles) is to turn the steam flow at the optimal angle which maximizes the useful work of the turbine.
